YouthIES will enhance the capacities of youth workers and educators to upskill and reskill youth in become active agents within their communities, in the fight against climate change

Promotion of active citizenship, young people’s sense of initiative and youth social entrepreneurship

Considering that youth workers hardly receive training in these fields and are therefore are not well equipped to train youth, this project and the video-immersed curriculum to be developed for youth workers, will innovate and increase the quality of youth work provided.

YouthIES will enhance the capacities of youth workers and educators to:

Upskill and reskill youth to become active agents within their communities, in the fight against climate change.

Gain critical knowledge on key environmental issues resulting from local activities and lifestyles.

Learn about Design-Thinking in climate innovation projects and how these can promote youth-led community-based interventions.

Finally, through digital storytelling of effective eco-practices in community environment sustainability such as Urban Farming, Ecological Footprint, Nature-based solutions, youth workers will gain confidence in effectively working with youth to achieve community-based change in the social and environmental dimension of sustainability.

Our objectives:

YouthIES addresses its main objective of improving both youth workers’ and young people’s knowledge of key environmental issues arising from local activities and lifestyles.

Issues such as environmental degradation, reduction of natural habitats caused by urbanization or industrial activities, local deforestation, soil erosion, water pollution, etc.

This project and the video curriculum to be developed for youth workers will innovate and increase the quality of work offered to young people.

In addition, the availability of the training material in digital format will further support the online practices of youth workers, extending their reach to socially excluded youth who may face, among other things, geographical barriers.
